International Berthing and Docking Mechanism (IBDM)
IBDM is a human rated, qualified, low impact docking system compliant to the International Docking System Standard (IDSS). It allows autonomous docking and berthing over the full IDSS range of vehicle combinations and initial contact conditions.
Overview
About IBDM
Built in Europe and designed for performance, reliability and safety, Redwire’s IBDM mechanism offers soft docking and berthing.
The European Space Agency (ESA) is currently leveraging IBDM to support its Gateway International Habitat (Lunar I-Hab) and the ESPRIT Refueling Module (Lunar View).
The Exploration Company has selected IBDM for its Nyx space vehicle.
